Introduction to Visual Communication: Final pieces

My final piece
Here is my final piece. I created it on A2 paper, using a cool-toned pinks and paper marbling. I used pinks because I wanted to create a dreamy atmosphere like within the Grand Budapest Hotel. To make the text stand out I used a green ink which was lino printed directly onto the painting.

Introduction to Visual Communication Research: Manifesto

Captain Crochets Manifesto she stuck to her wall.

Introduction to Visual Communication Research: Comic book covers

Researching different comic book fronts to help find a style or direction I want to go in with mine.
The colour theme for Batman The Killing Joke is really strong and something I really like about the cover its something I would really like to incorporate into my own comic book cover.
Something I really like about these two Fable covers is the use of layout, it's
obviously very different from the other comics I have looked at for this project.
Hilda and the Troll and Hilda and The Bird Parade like the Batman The killing Joke use a consistent colour theme throughout the front covers. After watching the Netflix series and falling completely in love with it I decided to buy the Comics so I could really have a look at all the beautiful drawings. Something else I really like about the Comics is the placement and the layout, Hilda is always in the center and everything else is happing around her.

Introduction to Visual Communication Research: Development on my "Item"

After watching Hilda I was inspired to create some kind of comic or comic book front so here are some of the pages of my sketchbook where I start turning my primary research like the drawings of Ironbridge into something more themed and cartoony.

Introduction to Visual Communication Research: Sketchbook Documentation

Here are some of my sketchbook pages documenting our trip to Ironbridge.

Introduction to Visual Communication Research: The Grand Budapest Hotel

(All images found on google)
During this project, I have found myself drawing lots of buildings and scenery and I just wanted to do some research to see how I can expand on it and make it more aesthetically pleasing. I have started looking into movie set and themes to see if anything really stood out to me or could help me and then I remembered Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel. During the film, there is a strong pink colour theme and I really wanted to incorporate that into my sketchbook for this particular project.

Introduction to Visual Communication Research: Luke Pearson

Luke Pearson is the creator of the comic book series Hilda and Everything We miss. By reading some of Lukes comics and watching Hilda on Netflix it really helped inspire my Ironbridge project. The storyline of Hilda going to a new city/place she has never been to before and looking around trying to find something fun really connected since that is what we spent all of Friday the 29th of September doing.
My chosen object is the Ironbridge Woodhog and I think creating a storyboard for him in the town of Ironbridge might be a good idea.
In my sketchbook, I have started by cartooning the Woodhog and Ironbridge to try and fit a comic book style.
