Principles and Practice of Illustration Part Two (Self-Portrait). Self portrait research

Some interesting questions I wanted to think about while researching for my self-portrait. 

Something I thought would be interesting and useful information was actually using portraits created by other people to see how they perceive me. I thought using other peoples perspective would help me develop my own self-portrait. This was unsuccessful since three out of four people drew me like a potato.
