Principles and Practice of Illustration. 1970's Train Poster Research.

I have taken a lot of inspiration from these posters I have found online, they are posters from the 1970s that would have normally be posted in the working train stations advertising rail travel.
Unlike the example posters above and below I will not just painting one location within the my design but combining both Paris and Vienna within the image so it corresponds with the lyrics.
After deciding to make a train travel poster to cohere with the tickets I had already produced I felt like doing more research into the posters was very important as it has given me a good starting point to work with and to expand and explore appropriately for the projects theme.

Something I want to take directly from the 1970s posters is the small border around the image. I feel like this breaks the image up nicely and creates a clear separation between the image and the text. Having the clear separation between my text and image will be important as its creates a consistent connection with my research but will also allow the poster itself not to become busy and overwhelming to look at.
